NASW New Hampshire recently sent out invitations to political candidates to request campaign endorsement. A short questionnaire was included inquiring about positions on certain key issues that NASW New Hampshire identified through our Political Action for Candidate Election committee. NASW NH PACE is the political arm of NASW New Hampshire. Members of the New Hampshire chapter committee meet throughout the election cycle to discuss support for candidates in state and local races. We assess individual candidates via the questionnaire along with their voting records and may choose to request an interview. The committee decides the level of candidate support based on several criteria, including issues the candidate supports or opposes, the viability of the campaign, and available resources. Supports can include a written endorsement, a financial contribution, and/or campaign assistance such as letter writing and phone calls. Candidates who are social workers, and members of underrepresented groups, are given special consideration. We truly appreciate all the interest we received and look forward to actively supporting candidates determined to align best with NASW missions and values.
If you have any questions about our choices, please free to reach out. And, please consider joining the PACE committee or attending the next NASW NH Legislative Updates meeting. A diverse membership is important to NASW-NH PACE and our advocacy committee. Although we align with the policy positions of NASW and NASW-NH, a variety of perspectives better informs our work.
