Supporting the Next Generation of Social Workers

Join us to discuss how to plan, implement, and develop social work internship opportunities at your organization.

We will address basic skills and approaches for providing effective field supervision. We'll also cover best practices and lessons learned from the process of building a field internship program from the ground up, and how these lessons can translate to the future success of social work students.

About the presenters:

Caitlin Eldridge is the Director of Social Work Programs at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. She earned a BA in English Literature from Bates College and an MSW from the University of New England School of Social Work. Caitlin teaches Social Policy courses, with a focus on HIV/AIDS and addressing barriers to healthcare. Prior to becoming a social work educator, Caitlin was the Director of Client Services and Operations at a small non-profit organization. At the intersection of her professional experience in the field and then later in the classroom, Caitlin developed an interest in supervising and supporting direct-entry social service staff to prevent burnout and improve service delivery within the healthcare system.

Karli Efron, LCSW is an alum of Colby College and the University of Southern Maine School of Social Work. She was the Director of Michael Klahr Jewish Family Services for over a decade before transitioning to her work as Assistant Professor and Field Coordinator at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. During her work in the field, Karli established the state's first diaper bank registered with the National Diaper Bank Network and provided supervision to Bachelor's and Master's level social work students from across Southern and Central Maine.
