In Our Own Voice - NAMI Maine

In Our Own Voice (IOOV), is a powerful presentation that aims to change attitudes, assumptions, and stereotypes about people living with men.

Two trained presenters with lived experience of a mental health condition talk openly about their experiences and how they have found pathways to hope and healing. Audience members have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about mental health, and challenge misconceptions.

About the presenters:

Madigan Fitzgerald is a student in the University of Maine system and a Peer Support Specialist for the NAMI Maine Teen Text Support Line. Having lived with mental health conditions since her early teens, Madigan hopes to go on to advocate for mental health awareness in our society.

Mitzi Bockmann is a certified life coach & a longtime IOOV presenter. Diagnosed in 2007, she is the third generation of her family to live with bipolar disorder. After generations of secrecy, Mitzi's goal is to reduce the stigma around mental illness by sharing her story to educate, support & inspire.
