The 20-hour, four module telehealth program will provide important information to bring mental health clinicians up to date on best practice guidelines, approaches, infrastructure and techniques for teleconferencing-based treatment. Additionally, this program will provide guidelines for best ethical decision-making processes to guide treatment decision making and establish a clear record of the ethical decision-making process to increase protection from liability and practice complaint issues while providing distance-based services.

Module 1

Ethical Considerations of Telehealth Practice

March 11th

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

· Utilize the key legal, ethical and clinical knowledge base and skill sets that must be part of the active vocabulary of any clinician who wishes to engage in telemental health services.

· Mitigate the ethical complexities within telemental health approaches to managing privacy and confidentiality, client safety, best practices / HIPAA compliant record keeping, and key resources, systems and structures needed for ethical practice

· Apply ethical decision-making models to telemental health practice

Module 2

Core Knowledge for Effective Practice

March 18th

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Comprehend the full scope of the knowledge base and essential competencies for engaging in TeleHealth practice.

• Define guidelines for indications and contraindications for TeleHelath

• Integrate clinical protocols for establishing a safety plan

• Examine the business of TMH related to practical issues facing today’s mental health professional.

Module 3:

Essential Infrastructure for Effective Practice

March 25th

• Comprehend the essential infrastructure components for effective and ethical practice

• Define guidelines for the development of forms and templates to support ethical practice

• Grasp the technology necessary to support effective and ethical practice

Module 4:

Experiential Learning for the Use of TeleHealth Infrastructure

April 1st

About the Presenter

Charles Safford, LCSW is the President and owner of yourceus.com, Inc., a company that develops and markets web-based and live continuing education training for mental health clinicians on a nationwide basis. Mr. Safford has been providing counseling services since he received his graduate degree from Boston University in 1981 and has been in private practice since 1985. Since 1988, he has also been involved in developing and delivering innovative training programs for numerous audiences. In 2001, he merged his training and therapy skills to create yourceus.com, Inc., a company that teaches and trains mental health clinicians on a nationwide basis, offering both live and web based programs encompassing the best and most recent knowledge and skills in the field of mental health. Since 2013, Mr. Safford has been training clinicians around the country in the ethical use of telemental health as a service delivery model, including the special complications of providing services to clients with special safety risks.

  • The zoom link and handouts will be sent to participants prior to the workshop
  • Each workshop will start at 11:00 AM EST.
  • After the workshop, participants will be emailed an evaluation. Your certificate will be emailed to you upon receipt of the completed evaluation
